When you get photos in an email, put your cursor over the middle of the email towards the top until you see a series of icons:
Click the one on the right (with a paperclip, number and downwards-pointing arrowhead), then click Export to Photos…:
This will open Photos ready to import. Click the Import All New Photos button:
